We Demand More Coalition on Last Night’s Elections; Says Democrats Must Pass Transformative Agenda to Keep Voters Mobilized
Plan to Engage Women Launches Today in Several States Where Women are Suffering
In reaction to last night’s elections, the principals of the We Demand More Coalition, a collection of organizations fighting for women, in particular Black, Indigenous, Latina and other women of color, on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis, issued the following statement.
The statement is cosigned by Fatima Goss Graves, President, National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, Shaunna Thomas, Co-Founder and Executive Director, UltraViolet, Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, Executive Director and CEO, MomsRising, Kelley Robinson, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Dawn Huckelbridge, Director of Paid Leave for All, Jordan Brooks, Executive Director, United State of Women, Destiny Lopez, Co-President, All* Above All Action Fund, Rachel O’Leary Carmona, Executive Director, Women’s March, Adrienne Kimmell, Acting President, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Amanda Brown Lierman, Supermajority,
“Last night’s elections in Virginia and across the country demonstrated that if Democrats want to remain competitive they must deliver for the voters who turned out for them in 2020. That means moving quickly on transformative investments in our communities that center the women and especially women of color who carried this country through the pandemic and delivered for Democrats in the 2020 election.
“That’s why now is the time for Democrats to move swiftly on the historic Build Back Better package and the transformative investments it makes in our children, families, and childcare workforce, the expansion of affordable healthcare for all, immigration reform — and to ensure paid leave stays in the package. Make no mistake — this deal will have a significant impact on tens of millions of women, caregivers, and families around the country and represent a promise kept by the President to center care in his agenda.
“This is a critical investment toward building an economy that truly works for ALL women, caregivers, and families across demographics and geography. We are grateful to our elected leaders for fighting for these historic investments. As last night’s elections showed us, voters expect them to get the job done.”

About We Demand More
Formed in 2020, We Demand More is a coalition of organizations using our collective power to fight for the courageous women workers and caretakers, especially women of color, who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis and who are particularly impacted. Their lives, livelihoods, and families depend on lawmakers and business leaders doing more — and we need everyone to demand more. We’ve formed the We Demand More coalition to fight for four demands from Congress and corporate leaders:
Prioritize our health and safety ahead of corporations.
Get life-sustaining relief to us NOW.
Make state governments strong; they are our lifeline.
Stop the attacks on our reproductive health care, including abortion access.
More information on the We Demand More coalition can be found on its website at www.WeDemandMore.org and its letter to Congress can be found here. Below is a full list of the We Demand More coalition’s members:
