Supermajority Statement on the Build Back Better Act
Plan to Engage Women Launches Today in Several States Where Women are Suffering
Washington, D.C. – Today, Supermajority Executive Director Amanda Brown Lierman issued the following statement on behalf of the more than 3.5 million women in the Supermajority community:
“Women showed up in 2020 and changed the direction of our country by putting President Biden and our representatives into office with a mandate to prioritize the issues we care about.
“As Congress negotiates the reconciliation bill, it has to recognize that we can’t recover from the pandemic without the policies – like paid family leave, universal preschool, and affordable child care – that women, and especially women of color, need. Women fuel our economy. By supporting women, and the work women do, we can drive economic growth and start to bring us closer to equality.
“As we continue to face a public health and caregiving crisis, we need these common sense investments right now, not only to help us sustainably recover from this horrible pandemic, but also to create long-overdue programs that finally support our families.
“At Supermajority, we believe that our government should represent us, which is why we expect our members of Congress to keep their promises to the millions of women who came together across age, race, and background to vote them into office. We delivered in 2020. We expect Congress to deliver on the Build Back Better Act now.”
