Supermajority Announces Amanda Brown Lierman as New Executive Director

New York City – Supermajority announced today that effective January 1, 2021, the organization’s current managing director of politics and organizing Amanda Brown Lierman will replace Cecile Richards as executive director. Richards is stepping down, moving into the role of Supermajority co-founder and board member.

“Two years ago, my co-founders and I came together to meet the growing demand of women wanting to become organizers and activists. We were committed to bringing women together across age, race and background, giving them the information and training to take action in their communities. That’s exactly what we did with Supermajority,” Executive Director and Co-Founder Cecile Richards said. “And as we transition into the next phase of the work, I can think of no one better than Amanda Brown Lierman to lead Supermajority and to ensure the work and the fight continues.”

Brown Lierman led many of Supermajority successes this year, as it stood up and ran a national woman-to-woman voter engagement program, reaching over 4.16 million young women and women of color in key battleground states. She started with Supermajority before it launched in April 2019, as its managing director of politics and organizing, building the team from the ground up.

Brown Lierman is nationally known for her political and organizing prowess as well as her leadership of progressive efforts. Before joining Supermajority, she served as the Democratic National Committee’s Political and Organizing Director during the 2018 midterm election cycle. Prior to that, she was the campaign director for For Our Future Action Fund and For Our Future, focused on progressive issues and winning elections. She also served as executive director of the National Women’s Business Council and national political director for Rock the Vote.

Brown Lierman got her start in politics with the 2008 Obama campaign and worked in the Obama Administration in the first and second term. She has a wealth of experience — forging innovative partnerships, executing grassroots campaigns, advising key influencers, and growing and building brands. With Brown Lierman assuming this new leadership role at Supermajority, the organization is poised to continue its work in empowering women and elevating the critical issues they face, bringing to bear her executive branch experience as the Biden Administration takes office in 2021.
