Supermajority Executive Director Amanda Brown Lierman on the Supreme Court’s Texas Abortion Decision
Plan to Engage Women Launches Today in Several States Where Women are Suffering
Washington, D.C. – Today, Supermajority Executive Director Amanda Brown Lierman issued the following statement:
“The U.S. Supreme Court has once again ruled against women and in favor of an unfair law that undermines our reproductive freedom and the fundamental right to care for our own bodies. Make no mistake, this is not about us or about what we need to make our own health and medical decisions, it’s about control. And while abortion providers can challenge the law, millions of women’s lives will continue to be at risk with limited options.
“People across the country overwhelmingly support Roe v. Wade, yet the government continues to opt for arcane policies that take away our reproductive freedom and endanger the health and wellbeing of women, especially women of color. This is unacceptable and we will not stand for it. For women to be equal, our bodies must be respected. Every woman, no matter their race, income, or zip code, should have legal access to safe abortion care.
“That’s why women in America will not back down. We will stand together to protect our fundamental right to abortion care with a vengeance and with our votes — and every politician should pay attention.”
