Supermajority’s Amanda Brown Lierman on Georgia Senate Runoff: “Georgia women made their voices heard”

Washington, D.C. – Amanda Brown Lierman, Executive Director of Supermajority, a women’s equality organization focused on making sure women turn out to vote in this year’s midterms and beyond, issued the following statement on Wednesday after U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) was re-elected to a six-year term:

“Over the past few weeks, Supermajority has joined the ongoing efforts on the ground in Georgia to contact women of color and young women who are infrequent voters and encourage them to get out to vote. We know from talking to women voters this year in other key battleground states that women understand the power of their vote, and we’ve already seen how when women vote and work together, we win. And we also heard loud and clear from our community that they were searching for ways to get involved in the Georgia election.

“Supermajority’s GOTV efforts during this Georgia runoff period has included:

• 285,598 contacts with women voters via
• 15,931 phone calls
• 7,113 recruitment phone calls to volunteers, and
• 270,598 text messages

“These added voter contact efforts during the Georgia runoff mean that on the whole, Supermajority contacted over 4 million voters throughout the 2022 midterm election cycle to mobilize a multiracial, multigenerational coalition of women voters.

“As we congratulate Sen. Warnock today, we also want to make this clear: Just like they did in the midterms, Georgia women made their voices heard in this election. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the Black women who have been leading grassroots efforts across the state. Their critical work has engaged new voters, encouraged infrequent voters to cast their ballots, and grown a grassroots organizing movement that will benefit Georgians for years to come. Investing in women and young people — especially young women — is the right approach, and we will continue to support and champion this method of organizing in 2024 and beyond.”
