With over 20 years of policy, legal, and advocacy experience Katherine Grainger is a leading thought leader on criminal justice reform, civil rights, and reproductive justice. As a co-founder of Supermajority, Katherine brings an intersectional lens to her advocacy. Katherine believes that it is not only important, but necessary to uplift the voices and experiences of women, particularly those of women of color, as we work to create a more equitable society.

Most notably, as assistant counsel in civil rights to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Katherine was responsible for developing and implementing the Marriage Equality Act. Throughout her career, Katherine has worked to increase the political power of women and people of color by developing campaigns to end the death penalty and protect reproductive rights.

Previously, Katherine served as vice president for public policy and political initiatives at NARAL Pro-Choice NY and as the director of state policy at the national Center for Reproductive Rights. Before attending law school, Katherine worked on issues pertaining to women in the U.S., Kenya, and Yemen.

She received a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and a law degree from Northeastern School of Law. Katherine is a member of the New York State Bar. She currently lives in New York.
